Bio
“Cutting through as a singer/songwriter these days is a daunting challenge but Dellavedova deserves to with this assured album, which is characterized by warmth, vintage amps, swing and great songs. Her voice oozes sensuality and is wonderfully intimate on the ballad Borrow My Love, which sounds like an instant classic” The Canberra Times – Dave Curry
“…this is an awesome bunch of songs – a little bit country, a bit swampy blues, and a whole lot of late night – late night lust, late night tensions, late night longings and regrets” Forte Magazine – Kim Porter
The songs written over two summers in Toronto make up the outstanding collection of songs featured in ‘City Keepers’
Recorded in Melbourne with producer/guitarist Scott Wilson, a collection of Australia’s finest musicians feature as guests on the recording, including Roger Bergodaz -drums, Amos Sheehan –bass, Garrett Costigan –pedal steel, Suzanna Espy –harmonies, Dan Sultan –harmonies, Sime Nugent – harmonies and Ian Collard – harmonica.
Kim has been captivating audiences, with her band and as a duo with Scott Wilson, delivering her take on classic country/soul, swampy blues, to songs with refreshingly cheeky, upbeat pop/rock grooves.
In 2005, Kim released, 'for want of a better word', a sublime
collection of 11 tracks that feature her tasteful guitar playing and
established her strength as a songwriter. In the opening track 'Spare
me the Details' she sets the mood with the lyrics, 'I see the colour of
her wanting, in the top she chose to wear'. In 'I asked you', a
spacious pop/rock song, Kim's electric guitar playing intertwines with
her voice to deliver a punchy chorus, 'Why do you make it so easy, why
don't you pull on the reins, why don't you keep me in line'
